Thin Privilege

For todays post I thought I would share a link. This is an article about “thin privilege”, which is the idea that thin people (particularly women) are given privileges and are seen differently than fat people. Essentially, this is about the oppression of overweight people. I find this article to be very interesting, and I have to say I agree with most of the author’s points. Whether or not you have experienced skinny-shaming, it will never be quite the same thing as the actual oppression felt by “fat” people. The main thing to take away from this article is the fact that we all need to be aware of this phenomenon, so that we can make it stop. We should all be able to see through the exterior to the interior. As women, we all have hang-ups about our bodies. Since we all know how painful it can be to feel upset about our bodies, why don’t we all start trying to lift each other up instead of bringing each other down?

I hope you enjoy this article! Thanks for reading!
