Admittedly, I watch a lot of movies, television series, and follow all the latest pop culture events. Thanks to social media, I can follow a play by play of a show, read about the consensus on the latest movie, or read a celebrity’s offensive tweet. However, as I absorb this media, I am always observant as to how race, gender, class, sexuality, ability, and age intersect. As someone who consumes media with a critical lens, it is refreshing to find podcasts with a similar focus. One of my favorite things to do is come home, cook dinner, and listen to pop culture podcasts. Currently, my top three are:

From discussions on mainstream pop culture successes such as Scandal to newly released independent cinema, these podcasts highlight media, especially from people of color, in a way that is witty, relevant, and original.
