This past Wednesday, March 25, the Women’s Center held its third Women and Success Discussion Session. This session was created in honor of International Women’s Day, which was on March 8, 2015. Dongxiao Sun, a international graduate student at Carlson School of Management was the guest presenter for this session. Dongxiao shared her perspective of how women in China make their career choices through her own experience and those of others around her. The event was filled with lots of thought-provoking information, learning and laughter.
Because of her willingness to share her international perspective and conduct this presentation, Dongxiao received a Culture Corps Award through International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). These awards are given to international students who “develop projects and initiatives that bring global perspectives to the University of Minnesota campus,” according to ISSS. Any international student is eligible to receive this monetary award; please encourage any international students you know or work with to look into this cool program at http://www.isss.umn.edu/programs/culturecorps/aboutcc.html.
The Women’s Center would like to thank those of you who were able to attend the event, and we’re looking forward to meeting you all at our next event (L)EARNING WHAT YOU’RE WORTH: SALARY NEGOTIATION on Wednesday April 15 from 11:45 am – 1:00 pm at Nolte room 125.
