In case you missed it, Wednesday was our last Women & Success Discussion Series of the semester. This month’s discussion was a shortened version of our (L)earning What You’re Worth: Salary Negotiation workshop. Considering this is usually a two-hour interactive workshop, we had an incredibly rich discussion in the hour we had together over in Nolte!
Our discussion was particularly timely considering it took place one day after Equal Pay Day. We started with talking about the wage gap and what this looks like in Minnesota, and how the gap is affected by many other factors, including race and education. With so much wisdom and experience in the room, we were able to have a lot of great Q&A while also sharing resources on how to benchmark salary and benefits, and strategies for negotiating a fair salary.
For those of you who couldn’t attend our session on Wednesday, stay tuned for a forthcoming salary negotiation online module from the Women’s Center. If you aren’t already subscribed to our monthly e-newsletter, make sure you sign up now so you don’t miss the online module when it goes live!
